На русский язык фильм переведен в 1999 и показан по телеканалу "Культура".

Ричи Хэвэнс: «Следуй за тыквенной бутылью». В этих загадочных словах – подсказка для беглых рабов. Двигаться они могли только по ночам, и Тыквенная бутыль – так они называли Большую Медведицу – указывала путь на Север. Были на этом пути надежные пристанища. Негры называли этот путь «подпольной дорогой».
